After just returning from Turks & Caicos and coming home to see a plethora of latex balloons in our own community (yes with these strings), I am hoping to educate more residents in our city. As a Senior Fellow of International League of Conservation Photographers and a marine/wildlife photographer, I have seen my share of dead birds and marinelife. In T&C, I photographed an osprey nest dripping with more plastic than plant material. Finding an image showing the impact and including the ties, is difficult. But this one is a perfect shot. May I get permission to utilize this photo as one of the many examples of balloon, whether mylar or latex, in my campaign?
Sorry for the delay in our reply Michele. I think it would be okay to use this photo. Thanks for your work as a conservation photographer! Would you be willing to share one or two of your photos of the osprey nest with plastic from T&C? If yes, please send to Lisa.Sorenson@BirdsCaribbean.org. Thank you! Also, you may be interested to sign up for our mailing list to receive our monthly newsletter, chock full of news and information on Caribbean birds and conservation.
